What We Do

What we do

COS I MATTER NZ exists to help individuals, families and whānau become more informed, prepared and confident advocates.

Our work combines lived experience with practical advocacy education, helping people better understand rights, processes and systems, prepare for important conversations and decisions, and know what they can do when concerns are not being heard.

Important to know

COS I MATTER is here to equip and support you to advocate – not take over your voice. We provide advocacy education, practical guidance and navigation support to help you understand your options, prepare, communicate effectively and determine your next steps. We do not provide legal, medical or clinical advice, and our support does not replace statutory advocacy, complaints processes or professional services.

Workshops & Education

Practical workshops designed around the realities people face when navigating health, disability and aged-care systems.

Topics will include advocacy fundamentals, understanding rights, preparing for meetings and assessments, documenting concerns, communicating effectively, and knowing when and how to follow up or escalate.

Our broader COS I MATTER Advocacy Programme is currently in development, bringing together practical advocacy education, tools and ongoing support.

Advocacy Guidance & Support

Sometimes you don't need someone to take over. You need help understanding what you're dealing with and working out your next steps.

COS I MATTER can provide practical guidance to help you organise information, prepare questions, understand processes and approach conversations with greater clarity and confidence.

Community & Connection

Advocacy can be isolating.

We're building a community where families, whānau and carers can connect, learn from shared experience and have conversations about the realities of navigating care and health systems.

Systems Change

Individual experiences can reveal much bigger problems.

COS I MATTER brings lived experience into wider conversations about policy, practice, accountability and system design. We ask questions, examine gaps and advocate for systems that better protect the rights, dignity and wellbeing of the people they exist to serve.

Coming Soon

Our broader advocacy education programme and practical resources are being developed.

As COS I MATTER grows, so will the ways people can learn, participate and advocate for change.

Our role is to equip, not replace.

COS I MATTER provides advocacy education, guidance and navigation support. We do not provide legal, medical or clinical advice, and we do not replace statutory advocacy, complaints or professional services.

Get informed. Get prepared. Be heard.
